Man guilty of creating AI deepfakes of child stepdaughter
A 40-year-old Victorian man pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting his stepdaughter at 13 and creating AI-generated pornographic deepfakes of her.
The man appeared in Bendigo Magistrates' Court on October 20 and admitted to sexually assaulting his stepdaughter in 2015 when she was 13 years old. Police found pornographic deepfakes on his phone, along with videos of him engaging with images of the victim.
The AI-generated images placed her face on sexually explicit content and images of a sex doll. In a recorded police call, the man acknowledged "absolutely" regretting his actions and blamed alcohol.
The victim told the court she lost parts of her childhood she will never recover. Sentencing has been adjourned to December 3.
