Party Rock Anthem singer Lauren Bennett died by suicide at 36

An inquest found the singer experienced serious psychological suffering and was hospitalized in January before her death in May.

Lauren Bennett, 36, became famous for singing on LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem, a global hit that defined party music in the 2010s. An inquest at Kent and Medway Coroners' Court found she died by suicide.

Lauren Bennett was found dead in woodland near her home in Meopham, Kent, on May 29. The inquest revealed she had experienced a serious mental health crisis in January and was admitted to hospital for several days.

Bennett continued to struggle in the months after and was receiving specialist mental health care. She reported distress about the effects of prescribed medication.

She met with mental health services just days before her death. No alcohol or illicit drugs were found in her system.

Her father later criticised the NHS, saying medical professionals failed to provide appropriate treatment during the five months before she died. Bennett is survived by a seven-year-old daughter.

Why it mattersThe inquest exposes gaps in mental health support for people in crisis and raises questions about medication monitoring.

AustraliaNo direct Australian effect yet; the case adds to discussions about mental health support gaps, relevant to Australian care systems.
