Konstas dismissed on dubious caught-behind call as Bird wrecks NSW top order

Konstas given out for 5 on questionable decision; Bird claimed 4-39 from 15 overs in Sheffield Shield match.

Sam Konstas looked shocked when given out caught behind for just 5 runs, visibly disputing the decision as he left the crease. Playing his first game back from injury and pushing for Test recall, Konstas appeared to play and miss the delivery from Jackson Bird.

The 39-year-old pace bowler destroyed NSW's top order with exceptional swing, claiming Konstas, Ollie Davies (13) and Nic Maddinson (2) before finishing with 4-39. NSW captain Maddinson had just returned from South Africa managing just 56 runs across four innings.

By stumps on day two, NSW reached 8-174 in reply to Tasmania's 427. Konstas had started the season brilliantly with 151 not out against Western Australia.
