The 35-person Office of AI is drafting Australia's first dedicated laws on data centres and AI model training by Christmas.
Australia's Office of AI, established inside PM&C in July under Fergus Hanson, has assembled 35 full-time staff in three months. Five assistant secretaries lead the work.
Peter Good and Rebecca Rush, both previously at the Infrastructure department, focus on legislation. Jacob Cannon, who appears to have been seconded from the Australian Signals Directorate, heads international and national security.
