Albury health worker wins weekly compensation for toxic workplace
Albury Wodonga Health must pay a former manager about $2000 weekly. She suffered bullying that worsened her mental health.
The woman worked at Albury Wodonga Health from August 2024 as a credentialing and appointments manager. Within weeks, she faced mean comments and bullying from colleagues.
The behaviour felt inappropriate and went on for a long time. On June 26 last year, a heated discussion about office seating arrangements turned into a confrontation.
She felt threatened and scared. The woman suffered panic attacks, anxiety and nausea.
Her depression and anxiety disorders got worse. She left the hospital that day and has not worked since.
The NSW Personal Injury Commission ruled she could not work from September 15 onwards. Albury Wodonga Health agreed her mental health got worse because of the workplace.
But they first said she could still work. The commission did not agree.
She was ordered to get about $2000 per week. The hospital must also pay all her medical costs.
