NRL confirms mystery performer for grand final after backlash
The NRL confirmed a mystery 11-minute performance for Sunday's grand final after public backlash.
The NRL had initially planned no pre-match entertainment for the grand final at Accor Stadium. Public backlash followed after the AFL grand final featured Kylie Minogue the day before.
Peter V'landys, the NRL's executive chairman, confirmed on Monday that had changed. A mystery performer will take the stage for 11 minutes.
V'landys refused to reveal who. V'landys told reporters it will be the highest-rating 11 minutes you will ever see.
No one knows what it is. The NRL chief initially defended dropping entertainment.
Then he pledged $1 million to grassroots rugby league instead. A smaller amount now funds the entertainment.
Most of the money goes to junior clubs and young players.
