Black Doves season two offers Slow Horses fans a high-octane alternative

Black Doves season two brings Keira Knightley back as a spy protecting her secret as her husband becomes prime minister.

Black Doves season two is now streaming, and it's more confident than the first season. Keira Knightley plays Helen Webb, a spy whose secret identity is still safe, although her ability to lie is more challenged by marriage counselling.

Helen's handler vanishes, forcing Helen to work with a new Black Doves operator. Separately, her friend Sam, an assassin played by Ben Whishaw, gets blackmailed into targeting four people linked back to Helen's agency.

A Cold War-era operation resurfaces to threaten everyone. The show shares DNA with Slow Horses: both are British, six episodes long, and feature spies working outside the law with brutal shootouts.

This season's cast includes Sarah Lancashire, Neve Campbell, and Ambika Mod, whose performance adds new energy. The plotting is tight and the pace stays high throughout.
