Callum Turner becomes frontrunner for next James Bond role

Bookmakers shortened Turner's odds to 8/13 after he quit his production company and Pierce Brosnan endorsed him.

British actor Callum Turner has become the betting favourite to play the next James Bond. Bookmaker William Hill cut his odds from 3/1 to 8/13, ahead of rivals Jack Lowden (2/1) and Josh O'Connor (9/2).

The shift followed Turner's resignation as director of his production company, Twentytwo Films, which he founded with his wife, musician Dua Lipa. Over the weekend, the couple posted photos of themselves in martinis, fuelling speculation.

Former Bond actor Pierce Brosnan also backed Turner in a new interview, saying he is "so strong" and has the presence film needs. Director Denis Villeneuve is helming the 26th Bond film, with a casting announcement expected by year's end.
