Australian goatmeat exports surge to 4,300 tonnes as US demand drives growth
Australian goatmeat exports reached 4,300 tonnes in September, the highest monthly volume since March, driven by strong US demand.
Australian goatmeat exports rebounded sharply in September, hitting 4,300 tonnes, up 18 per cent on August and the strongest month since March. The US accounted for about 59 per cent of shipments at 2,553 tonnes.
Despite the monthly jump, September exports remained 16 per cent below the same month last year, though they stayed 20 per cent above the five-year average. The US took an 11 per cent increase on August volumes but was 10 per cent down year-on-year.
South Korea, once a growing market, slumped 62 per cent year-on-year in September. Taiwan exports recovered to 218 tonnes after a weak August.
Smaller destinations and Canada have grown, reaching 865 tonnes combined, more than double August's tally.
