Maitland approves 48-hectare industrial site for Thornton jobs
Maitland City Council endorsed a development plan for the 48-hectare Brickworks Road site to go on public display for 28 days.
The land was rezoned in December 2023 for light industry, warehousing, and manufacturing. Lots will range from about 2,000 square metres to one hectare, serving the growing suburbs of Thornton and Chisholm.
The site will protect an environmental corridor used by endangered species. Council endorsed the draft control plan at Tuesday night's meeting, and the public will have at least 28 days to comment.
Some councillors flagged concerns: road upgrades at the Haussman Drive and Raymond Terrace Road intersection are overdue and still have no delivery date.
