Man gets stern warning from judge after throwing drink at McDonald's worker
21-year-old Cody Benn from Goulburn pleaded guilty to throwing an iced drink at a McDonald's security guard in May.
On May 30 in the early hours, Benn was part of a disruptive group at McDonald's on Burelli Street in Wollongong. After staff asked him to leave, he picked up a nearby drink filled with ice and threw it at a security guard's head from close range.
CCTV footage captured the unprovoked attack. Benn pleaded guilty on September 22 to throwing a missile at a retail worker.
Judge Michael Love said Benn has a pattern of getting drunk and throwing things at people in authority for no reason. He told Benn to return with a strong pre-sentence report.
Sentencing is set for November.
