McGuire murder trial witness convicted of assault and Easter egg theft

Benjamin O'Keefe, 25, was a key witness in the murder trial of Hannah McGuire. After testifying, he received a "tirade of abuse" and lost his carpentry job.
On September 23, he pleaded guilty to three charges: affray, carrying a dangerous article and shop theft. In January 2026, O'Keefe joined two others to confront a man over a dispute at a Delacombe house, holding a star picket.
One of his companions was shot and wounded. Several months later, in May, he and another man stole $2000 worth of Easter eggs from Coles Daylesford without paying.
The store manager identified him from CCTV. O'Keefe is expected to avoid prison.
