Caroline Chisholm School wins ACT mural award
Caroline Chisholm School's year 7 students won the ACT mural prize. This is impressive for a school with just 332 students.
Caroline Chisholm School's senior campus won the ACT prize in the Paint Australia Beautiful School Mural Competition. Year 7 students designed the mural.
The mural shows local threatened species: the earless dragon, spider orchid and yellow-tailed black cockatoo. The school has only 332 students in years 7 and 10, making it one of Canberra's smaller high schools.
Students worked with art teacher Tatjana Radulovich and local artist Geoff Filmer to create a bright mural. A magnifying glass in the design shows the importance of protecting nature.
Keep Australia Beautiful runs the competition with help from Dulux, which gave the paint. The school can still win the national prize if Canberra voters choose it.
Voting closes Friday, November 6, at 2pm.
