Labor yet to name candidates for three Victorian North East seats
Victorian Labor has not named candidates for three conservative North East seats ahead of the November election, though vetting is underway.
Labor says it will contest Benambra, Euroa and Ovens Valley in the Victorian election next month, but has not announced who will stand. The party has named contenders for neighbouring seats like Shepparton and Eildon.
State secretary Steve Staikos said candidates for the three seats are undergoing vetting and will be announced in coming weeks. When asked if the delay is because these are safe conservative areas, Staikos said the party is just working through its process.
Mark Tait, a unionist and repeat candidate in Benambra, said he will not be standing this time. He did not know who had been chosen to represent Labor.
