Independent challenges Ryan Park in Labor's Keira stronghold
A non-party candidate is running against incumbent Ryan Park in Keira, a seat Labor has held since 1988.
Kylie Flament, an independent, is standing for the 2027 NSW election in Keira despite Ryan Park holding an 18.3 per cent margin. Kylie Flament has raised only a handful of small donations and is grappling with campaign costs: printing one A4 flyer for each of the 59,000 voters costs $6000.
Flament is CEO of the Social Enterprise Council and previously managed Green Connect, a non-profit. Kylie Flament believes no seat is truly safe and wants to give voters an alternative to major parties.
She points to recent elections where voters backed independents in previously solid Labor seats.
