Restaurant couple admits $240k theft from shared cleaning account
Sharron and Peter Curran transferred $240,000 from a shared cleaning company account over two years.
Sharron and Peter Curran operated two businesses at Morty's Food Court: Pete's BBQ and a fish shop. Sharron and Peter Curran pleaded guilty to 58 counts of fraud for stealing $240,000 from a company account between July 2016 and July 2018.
Transactions ranged from $500 to $15,000, mostly at month's start or end. The defence said these were to pay suppliers to keep the two businesses operating.
The couple were insolvent during the offending period. They've repaid half the amount and their lawyer says they can repay the rest.
