A 13-year-old boy from Maryborough was denied bail for planning a violent attack and ordered to stand trial.
A 13-year-old from Maryborough has been denied bail and ordered to stand trial. The boy was arrested in May on charges of planning a violent attack.
Police say he planned to kill or seriously harm someone. The boy also faces federal charges for having extremist material on his devices.
At the Children's Court hearing yesterday, police presented documents, a manifesto, school records, and video from a service station. The boy allegedly threatened a staff member with a knife.
His defence said his mental health improved in custody. A psychiatrist found he likely has depression, anxiety disorder and internet gaming addiction.
Since arrest, the boy told police his views about Jews, Muslims and children were unjustified. Magistrate John Milburn said improvement did not outweigh public risk.
He ordered trial before a jury.
