They were visiting another sister in Chinandega. A man was driving them when he tried to cross the Nahualapa River at around 1am.
Heavy rain had flooded the river and made the currents very strong. The vehicle was swept away.
Only the driver survived. Laurent had 43,000 Instagram followers who enjoyed her van-life and travel videos.
Nicaragua's co-president called it a tragedy.
