Police arrest man accused of stalking two Adelaide Labor MPs
A 44-year-old man has been arrested after police say he stalked South Australian MPs Lucy Hood and Ella Shaw over years.
Education Minister Lucy Hood and Member for Elizabeth Ella Shaw spoke publicly Wednesday after police arrested the man they say targeted both women. Hood reported the incidents began about three years ago and went to police on multiple occasions.
Some happened in front of her children, she said. Shaw first had online contact with the alleged stalker about six months ago, then alleges he followed her to her car after a community event.
Both MPs described the alleged behaviour as abhorrent and urged anyone experiencing similar conduct to report it to police. Shaw said she spoke out because she does not want young people in her electorate to feel as unsafe as she did.
The 44-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday and charged with breaching bail conditions. He is due to face court next month.
