Uhura contacts herself across a year in Strange New Worlds finale
Uhura receives a message from her future self through a white hole in the season finale.
Strange New Worlds' season finale aired this week with a time-jumping twist. Lt. Uhura, newly promoted, hears music from a white hole as the Enterprise observes it when an energy burst strikes.
Uhura then hears her own voice calling from the future. Through the white hole, an Enterprise from one year ahead investigates a black hole, with Jim Kirk as captain.
Future Uhura and Scotty fly a shuttle that gets hit by the same burst. Scotty dies, but Uhura learns he had already died a year earlier, creating a paradox.
The two Uhuras must work together to save him without disrupting time. Celia Rose Gooding discussed the challenge of playing both versions simultaneously.
