Ackerman out to helmet blow as review timer runs out

Marques Ackerman dismissed caught off Mitchell Starc after helmet struck him; his review attempt came too late.

Marques Ackerman copped a brutal bouncer from Mitchell Starc and was caught in the slips by Cameron Green at Cape Town. The ball struck his helmet as he tried to scoop it over the keeper.

Ackerman was given out caught and wanted a review, but the umpires ruled he'd run out of time to request one. South Africa leads by 40 runs with six wickets in hand heading into day four.

Marnus Labuschagne was captured on the stump microphone making a dismissive comment about Ackerman as he left the field, lacking sympathy for the helmet strike.
