Star goalkicker returns to former club after one season
Connor Newnham is leaving Ovens and Murray football to return to Kiewa-Sandy Creek after one injury-disrupted season at Albury.
Connor Newnham, 27, spent four prolific seasons at Coulston Park. Newnham kicked 253 goals in 69 matches.
This year he moved to Albury in the Ovens and Murray league. Newnham's standout 2025 season at Kiewa saw him kick 107 goals and seven in the grand final, winning the Wayne Bartel Medal.
He joined Albury hoping to test himself at a higher level. But injuries limited him to eight senior games and six reserves games.
Newnham and his partner Georgie Attree are marrying early in 2027 and travelling to Europe. This would clash with pre-season training.
Newnham could not commit to the training demands at that level. Returning to Kiewa puts him closer to family and Georgie, who plays netball for the club.
He said the experience was valuable.
