David Jones opens nostalgic Winnie the Pooh Christmas window as retailer enters

David Jones unveiled a Christmas window celebrating 100 years of Winnie the Pooh. One day later, the retailer entered voluntary administration.

David Jones opened a Christmas window display on Wednesday. The display featured animated Winnie the Pooh characters and a broader holiday exhibition on the ninth floor.

The window brought back memories for long-time Sydney customers. Some shared stories of being driven into the city as children to see it.

"I'm 69 years old, it's a beautiful childhood memory," one shopper wrote. But the timing was difficult.

The next day, the retailer said it had entered voluntary administration. It faced money problems including a struggling retail environment, rising costs, an outdated store footprint and supply chain issues.

The Christmas display will stay open through December. But store closures and job losses are expected as administrators reshape operations.
