Ovens and Murray football star delays retirement to chase fourth straight flag
Rovers' star Ed Dayman has postponed retirement and planned travel to pursue an unprecedented fourth consecutive premiership for the club.
Ed Dayman was considering retirement or a move closer to Melbourne when club president Wendy Lester convinced him to stay for one more season. Ed Dayman wants to help Rovers equal St Patrick's (1921-24) and Wangaratta (1949-52) with four straight premierships.
Rovers have won three consecutive titles. No other team in the Ovens and Murray Football Netball League has done this.
Dayman was dominant in this year's grand final win despite carrying a broken hand, collecting 26 touches, 18 contested possessions and 40 hit-outs. The 26-year-old had planned to travel overseas from late April to July 2027, but that trip is now on hold.
He is still waiting to hear whether he needs surgery on the broken bone in his hand.
