Melbourne Cup trophy tours North East schools
Robbie Dolan brought the 2024 Melbourne Cup to Springhurst Primary School. Students from four North East schools saw the trophy.
Dolan brought the trophy to Springhurst Primary School on Friday, October 9. The trophy was part of a national tour.
Seven students from Springhurst saw it. Peers from Chiltern, Carraragarmungee and Everton also came.
The trophy is valued at $1 million. Dolan hoped to inspire the children to pursue their goals.
He shared his journey from a small Irish town to becoming a champion jockey. Mitchell Titchumb had heard the cup was made of 18 carat gold.
He was excited to see it. The tour visits 37 destinations across Australia and four international stops.
It concludes at Flemington Racecourse on Cup day, November 3.
