Addo-Carr faces Eels board over drug test after negative recheck

Josh Addo-Carr faces the Eels board on Monday. He reportedly returned a negative drug retest.

The veteran winger will face an important meeting with the Eels on Monday afternoon. The club will decide whether to keep him for the 2027 season.

Addo-Carr tested positive on a roadside drug test in September. Addo-Carr reportedly returned a negative result when retested.

The 31-year-old will reportedly be represented by his lawyer and agent at the meeting. Had the second test come back positive, he faced a 12-game NRL ban.

Addo-Carr was sacked by the Bulldogs in 2024 after a similar failed roadside drug test. He said he had not knowingly taken drugs.

He has reportedly spent a month in a rehabilitation centre. The club wants to solve the matter before pre-season training starts this week.
