ClearVue wins US government backing for solar glass tech

ClearVue Technologies won a US$500,000 grant from the US Department of Energy to develop building-integrated solar technology.

The money funds glass panels that turn building walls into solar power generators. ClearVue is working with North American manufacturer Silfab Solar to develop and test the technology.

The panels generate up to 200 watts per square metre while keeping the building's look and function. Testing will happen at Silfab's facility in Burlington, Washington.

The company has already won contracts in Cyprus and at Canva's Sydney headquarters.
