Norway's Defence Minister criticises Trump's diesel deal with Russia
Norway's Defence Minister publicly criticises Trump's decision to lift sanctions on Russian oil and diesel.
Tore Sandvik told The Nightly that lifting sanctions goes against Western efforts to push Putin to the negotiating table. Trump made the diesel deal over the weekend.
Trump said it was needed because of a global supply crunch caused by the US and Israeli war with Iran. Sandvik said Putin is not following agreements he made to Trump.
Europe will not lift its own sanctions on Russian oil. Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also criticised the move as risky.
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Trump of betrayal. He said the US is no longer a strong partner.
Trump has also pressured Ukraine to stop striking Russian oil refineries.
