Palombini's volley caps Broadmeadow's 3-2 win over Adelaide
Ezra Palombini scored a brilliant volley with great team play to help Broadmeadow beat Adelaide City 3-2 in Australian Championship football.
The 22-year-old winger made an excellent finish in the 11th minute of Friday night's home match. Luis Lara Delgardo set it up with a clever pass from the byline.
Palombini burst past two defenders and volleyed across goal into the left corner. Coach Jim Cresnar called it "goal of the week, possibly the season".
Palombini has trained very hard since moving up to the Australian Championship level. He arrived first at training and left last, putting in extra work away from the team.
The winger spent time at Newcastle Jets and Central Coast Mariners academies, then a season at Manly United, before joining Broadmeadow. Lara Delgardo also impressed, scoring in the 74th minute with a header.
Bailey Wells returned to play steady minutes after a serious quadriceps injury that kept him out for almost two years.
