Dolny returns to Beechworth to help drive finals push
Defender Degan Dolny rejoins Beechworth after spending 2026 with South Barwon, where he earned a premiership medal.
Degan Dolny has come home. The 23-year-old defender quit Geelong's South Barwon to rejoin his hometown club, the Bushrangers, where he finished runner-up in the best and fairest in 2025.
Dolny made just two senior appearances in his season away but played reserves football and helped South Barwon win a premiership. The switch taught him plenty.
He says the Geelong competition was more structured and skilled, forcing him to speed up his decision-making and sharpen his skills. Now he wants to bring that polish back to Beechworth as the club rebuilds under new coach Clint Brunnenmeyer.
Dolny believes the Bushrangers have the recruits and the direction to trouble most sides next year.
