KFC remakes chicken tenders in biggest menu overhaul in decades
KFC is redesigning its chicken tenders after 18 months of development, responding to complaints they were too small.
KFC is rolling out its biggest menu overhaul in decades, starting with a complete redesign of its signature chicken tenders. Over 18 months, KFC chefs developed a new tender that is bigger and more plump, after receiving many complaints about the original size.
The new version is also crispier and juicier thanks to a change in cooking method. KFC's innovation manager said customers wanted larger tenders.
The fast-food giant is competing as chicken becomes the dominant protein across Australian takeaway chains. McDonald's introduced the McCrispy in 2023 and Hungry Jack's launched their fried chicken range in 2021.
Chicken is just more versatile than other proteins and holds up better in delivery. The menu changes will roll out over the next year and a half.
KFC says its 11 secret herbs and spices recipe will not change.
