Man charged after shooting leaves victim injured near Geraldton
Christopher John Shanks, 30, was charged over a shooting near Geraldton that sent police on a manhunt and left a man injured.
Christopher John Shanks appeared in Geraldton Magistrates Court charged over a shooting in bushland near Geraldton, 400km north of Perth. Shanks is accused of driving a 32-year-old man to Moonyoonooka and taking part in assaulting him before driving away.
Police found the victim seriously injured just before 1am on Wednesday and took him to hospital. Shanks is charged with unlawful act or omission with intent to harm and wilfully destroy evidence.
A sixth person was arrested as police investigated the incident. Police believe at least three people were involved.
The victim has been discharged from hospital. Shanks remains in custody.
