Ballarat stadium roof to be replaced after years of water leaks
Ballarat's Selkirk Stadium will have its entire roof replaced, with work starting in the first half of 2027.
The City of Ballarat decided to completely replace the roof at Selkirk Stadium rather than try more repairs. The decision comes after nearly seven years of water leaks causing problems almost every year since a 2019 expansion.
The leaks have disrupted netball, basketball, and NBL1 games. In August 2026, three days of rain brought more than 50 millimetres across the city.
Some netball competitions were cancelled. Designs for the replacement have been finished, and the council is now looking for contractors.
Work should start in the first half of 2027. A timeline will be confirmed once a contractor is chosen.
The council said it will try to deliver the replacement with as little disruption as possible to daily work. It will also try to reduce costs for ratepayers.
