Woman granted bail over alleged stalking of Greens senator Steele-John

A 40-year-old woman has been released on bail. She faces charges of aggravated stalking and extortion of senator Jordon Steele-John. She must follow strict bail conditions.

Perth magistrate Clare Stanyer granted bail on Thursday. The amount was set at $5,000.

The woman faces two charges. One is aggravated stalking with intent to intimidate.

The other is extortion, which means demanding property by written threats. The court ordered her to stay at least 100 metres away from Steele-John, his home, and his workplace.

She must give any passport to Western Australian police within 48 hours. She cannot be named publicly.

The senator also faces separate allegations. They involve his conduct towards women between 2017 and 2025.

He has denied these allegations. They are being investigated independently.
