Hiker airlifted to safety after falling ill in remote Tasmania range
A 44-year-old man was rescued by helicopter. He fell ill during a remote hike in the Tyndall Range.

The group activated a personal locator beacon. Using satellite communications, the group contacted emergency services around 3pm on Saturday.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter found the group. It transported the man to Royal Hobart Hospital for assessment.
Police said the hikers were well-prepared with proper supplies and communication equipment. This shows why remote walkers need enough food, water, gear and shelter for unexpected delays.
