Transport for NSW defends plan to remove Albury roundabout
Transport NSW plans to replace the Borella Road roundabout with a left-turn-only median strip to improve highway flow.
Transport for NSW is defending its proposal to remove the roundabout at Borella Road and Schubach Street after motorists objected in feedback to Albury Council's draft plan. The agency proposes replacing it with a median strip that would allow only left-turn movements.
Residents argue the real bottleneck is the nearby Hume Highway bridge, not the roundabout. Transport NSW says the new design, developed with council, addresses future traffic pressure and improves safety by reducing turning movements.
The department also plans traffic lights at two other nearby intersections.
