BESIX Watpac and John Holland will build the 63,000-seat stadium for Brisbane's 2032 Olympics.
BESIX Watpac and John Holland have progressed to final negotiations to build the main stadium for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics in inner-city Victoria Park. The companies, which have built the Gabba and Melbourne 's Marvel Stadium, will now work with the Games authority to finalise details.
Contract negotiations are set to wrap up in early 2027, with construction expected to start later that year. The stadium was initially pitched at around $3.6 billion but the government says it will be delivered within its $7.1 billion Games budget.
After the Olympics, the venue will become the permanent home of AFL champions the Brisbane Lions and Queensland Cricket. It will also host concerts and major events, with a concert capacity of up to 70,000.
Earthworks are already under way at the site, which has been the subject of ongoing protests over Aboriginal heritage concerns.
