MP Space, founded by Tesla engineers Jay Manley and Sam Paterson, builds spacecraft power systems selected for 500+ spacecraft missions.
MP Space was founded in early 2024 by Jay Manley and Sam Paterson. MP Space builds hardware and software for spacecraft power.
Manley spent eight years at Tesla. Manley worked on battery systems including Powerwall.
Paterson worked on Model S, X and 3 batteries at Tesla. He later held roles at Apple and Zoox.
The funding round was led by Blackbird. It included Seraphim Space's first Australian investment.
The money will fund manufacturing and Australian team growth. It will also expand their range of power systems.
Manley said the technology has been chosen for missions involving more than 500 spacecraft. The hardware is set to fly in orbit this year.
