Five teenagers have been charged after an armed robbery at a Central Coast store on Sunday afternoon. Police went to a business on Scenic Drive in Budgewoi around 3pm.

Staff said a group entered and threatened a 26-year-old worker with a machete. The robbers demanded cash and cigarettes before running from the store and threatening a woman.

The staff member and the woman were not physically hurt. Police found the getaway car at Birdie Beach soon after and arrested five boys nearby.

They took them to Wyong Police Station. Each boy was charged with robbery in company, with the oldest also charged with being armed with intent.

All five were refused bail and spent the night in police custody before facing children's court.
