Channel 4 cancels Married at First Sight UK after rape allegations investigation
Channel 4 has cancelled Married at First Sight UK. Allegations of misconduct during filming led to a formal safety review.
The cancellation followed a review prompted by serious allegations of misconduct during the show's production. The broadcaster removed all past seasons in May.
A BBC investigation had found rape allegations by two women during filming. A formal review by law firm Clyde & Co found that welfare rules met broadcasting codes.
However, there were isolated incidents where these rules were not fully applied. Channel 4 chief executive Priya Dogra said the review recommendations would completely change the show's format.
She believed the show had run its course after 10 years.
