De Pasquale runs out of fuel near the finish, Kostecki wins Bathurst 1000
De Pasquale ran out of fuel on the final lap after his pit crew didn't add enough, handing Kostecki the win.
Anton De Pasquale led the Bathurst 1000 going into his final pit stop with a 10-second advantage, but his Team18 mechanics didn't put enough fuel in the car. Forced to manage his tank carefully, De Pasquale battled on through a safety car that bunched the field with five laps remaining.
Anton De Pasquale still held a two-second lead over Brodie Kostecki on the restart. On Mountain Straight, his tank ran dry and Kostecki drove straight past him.
Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood went on to claim victory, their second Bathurst win together. The race was the fastest Bathurst 1000 in history.
De Pasquale's Chevrolet Camaro ground to a halt before the checkered flag, just six kilometres from the finish.
