ACT Speedway ready for summer after track upgrade
ACT Speedway has widened two corners and increased banking ahead of its first meet on November 7 with Australia's fastest speed cars.
ACT Speedway has finished a major track rework in time for the 2026/27 summer season. The volunteer-run 500-metre oval now has two corners widened from 15 metres to 20 metres and increased banking around the track to encourage faster racing.
The first event on Saturday, November 7 will feature speed cars, one of Australia's premier racing divisions. The track has grown dramatically over the past five years, adding light towers for night racing and extra seating.
Speed car events regularly draw over 2,500 visitors to the ACT, and December will host sprint cars. These have 900 to 960 horsepower engines with better power-to-weight ratios than modern F1 cars.
