Prosecutors: Lamarre-Condon lied about Taylor Swift defence in murder trial
The former police officer allegedly killed Sydney couple Jesse Baird and Luke Davies on February 19, 2024.
A jury has heard prosecutors allege that former police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon, 31, lied when he claimed a friend suggested using a Taylor Swift reference to justify hiding the couple's bodies. The Crown says Lamarre-Condon quoted Swift's song "No Body, No Crime" to shift blame to his friend, Elizabeth Kennedy, but he had already decided to conceal the deaths himself.
The trial in NSW Supreme Court also heard that Lamarre-Condon had surgery on February 21, 2024, the very day prosecutors say he drove to a farm to dispose of the bodies. A surgeon confirmed he left hospital by 9.30am after the procedure.
Kennedy approached police on February 23, sparking a search that led to the discovery of both men's remains four days later. Lamarre-Condon handed himself in the same day Kennedy spoke with police.
Why it mattersThe trial will determine whether Lamarre-Condon's account of events is credible enough to support his self-defence plea.
