Beau Lamarre-Condon trial hears accused's call to friend after arrest
A police officer friend testified the accused called her after his arrest and told her not to believe news reports.
In NSW Supreme Court, a police officer friend of Beau Lamarre-Condon testified that he called her at about 9pm on March 28, 2024, after his arrest. When she answered, he reportedly told her "not everything in the news is true" and that the truth would come out in court.
Constable Schagen told him "You killed two people, why would you think I would ever want to speak to you again?" and hung up.
The officer then reported the call to police. Lamarre-Condon, 31, is accused of murdering TV presenter Jesse Baird and his partner Luke Davies at Baird's Paddington home on February 19, 2024.
He has pleaded not guilty and is arguing self-defence.
