Miniature horse Henry survives dog attack, thrives at 31
A miniature horse attacked by two dogs in 2016 and left for dead has survived, reaching age 31 in good health.
In June 2016, Henry was attacked by two dogs and suffered severe facial injuries, losing his lips. A vet came ready to put him down.
Mrs Shepherd and her late husband Michael refused. Three months of daily injections and careful wound cleaning followed.
The family credit winter rain that kept his mouth clean with helping Henry survive. The vet later called his recovery a miracle.
Ten years on, Henry's black coat has turned grey. He spends his days grazing, eating apples and carrots, and keeping his horse brother Jack company.
Shepherd said the attack brought unexpected kindness from the community.
