Sam Wright quits Collingwood AFLW job, says he has nothing left to give
Sam Wright resigned as Collingwood's AFLW head coach despite having a year remaining on his extended contract.
Wright stepped down after round 12, saying he had run out of energy. The Pies finished 17th on the ladder with just one win from 12 starts.
Wright, who had coached the club for three years, said the toll of losing seasons wore him down but he was proud of his effort. Sam Wright will take part in the club's review, conducted by external consultant Brad Lloyd.
Wright cited the birth of his six-month-old daughter as reason to reassess his priorities and focus on family time. Captain Ruby Schleicher announced last month she would seek a trade away from the struggling club.
