Nine killed as Learjet crashes near West Palm Beach in fiery impact

A Learjet 60 carrying nine people fell 27,000 feet in one minute and crashed near West Palm Beach, killing everyone on board.

A private Learjet 60 flying from Austin, Texas to the Bahamas crashed near West Palm Beach in Florida on Sunday afternoon, killing all nine people on board. The aircraft descended 27,000 feet in one minute before flight tracking data was lost.

The crash occurred around 12:50pm local time between Cresthaven Boulevard and 10th Avenue North, leaving a crater in a busy roadway. The plane just missed homes in the area.

US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed all nine were killed. The identities of those aboard have not been released.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate whether weather, mechanical failure, or other factors contributed to the crash.
