Unbeaten Proxima Dea installed as Crown Oaks favorite on perfect record

Unbeaten filly Proxima Dea is $2.30 favourite for the $1 million Crown VRC Oaks at Flemington.

Proxima Dea has won all five of her career starts and is the heavy favourite for the Crown VRC Oaks, a $1 million race for fillies over 2500m at Flemington. The David Payne-trained filly dominated the Spring Champion Stakes at Royal Randwick last month, beating Derby winner Stormy Marco.

Despite drawing wide, form analyst David Gately says she "picks herself" as the standout runner. Icelady, backed by Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Ethan Brown, looms as another threat after running third in the Wakeful Stakes lead-up race.

Quick Finish and Refuse To Curtsy are also firming as chances in a field that looks more open than usual.
