King Charles caught in downpour at Caribbean ceremony, jokes about watercress
King Charles was left without shelter in torrential rain at Antigua's 45th independence ceremony, visibly asking aides for an umbrella.
Heavy rain fell as King Charles and Queen Camilla stood on a podium during the military ceremony at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. Queen Camilla was quickly moved to a covered area, but Charles remained in the downpour, repeatedly asking his entourage where the umbrella was.
Charles's equerry eventually found one. Later, the king saw the funny side, telling the Antiguan prime minister he thought he was about to grow watercress on his suit.
Camilla joked to media she had given up, gesturing to her damp dress and dishevelled hair.
