Frydenberg said the party faces an existential threat and things have to change. Excerpts from his memoir have fuelled rumours that he is planning to make a political comeback.
Frydenberg said he had not closed the door, and that the next election is 18 months away. Redbridge polling found just 22 per cent of those surveyed wanted Angus Taylor as prime minister.
The same poll had 32 per cent backing Anthony Albanese and 26 per cent backing Pauline Hanson. Frydenberg lost his Kooyong seat to independent Monique Ryan at the 2022 election.
